Use catetin.ai on Apple Watch and Wear OS

The catetin.ai watch apps show each group's spending for today, this week, this month or this year, and let you log an expense from your wrist by voice or keyboard. The AI's answer appears on the watch, so you can confirm it there too. The Apple Watch app comes with the iPhone app, and the Wear OS app is on Google Play.

What you need

  • Apple Watch: watchOS 10 or later, paired with an iPhone that has the catetin.ai app.
  • Wear OS: Wear OS 4 or later, paired with an Android phone that has the catetin.ai app.
  • Sign in to catetin.ai on your phone and open the app once. The phone sends your groups and your sign-in to the watch.
  • After that, the watch can log expenses on its own over Wi-Fi or LTE, even when the phone isn't nearby.

Install the watch app

Apple Watch: the watch app comes inside the iPhone app. If it isn't on your watch yet, open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, and tap Install next to catetin.ai under Available Apps. You can also find catetin.ai in the App Store on the watch.

Wear OS: open Google Play on the watch and search for catetin.ai, or open catetin.ai in Google Play on your phone and install it on your watch.

Log an expense from your watch

  1. Swipe to the group you want, then tap Log expense.
  2. Say or write what you spent, for example “coffee 25k”. On Apple Watch, use dictation, Scribble, or the keyboard. On Wear OS, tap Speak or type it.
  3. The watch sends it to the group's Chat, and the AI's answer appears on the watch.
  4. If the AI asks you to confirm, tap one of the suggested replies, such as Yes, create. The transaction then appears in the app.

Each expense uses 1 chat quota, the same as typing the message in Chat. Each one is sent only once. If it never reached catetin.ai, for example with no connection, the watch offers Retry.

Complications and Smart Stack (Apple Watch)

  • The Spending complication comes in circular, rectangular, inline and corner styles, for watch faces and the Smart Stack.
  • It shows the same group and period as the watch app: the spending and the share of income.
  • On watchOS 11 or later, the rectangular one has two buttons: group › for the next group and the period button for the next period. The watch app follows what you pick.
  • To add it to a watch face, touch and hold the face, tap Edit, swipe to the complications, tap a slot, and choose catetin.ai.
  • To add it to the Smart Stack, turn the Digital Crown on the watch face, touch and hold the stack, tap +, and choose catetin.ai.

Tile and complication (Wear OS)

  • The Spending Tile shows a group's spending and share of income for the period, with buttons to change the group and the period. Tap it to open the app.
  • To add the Tile, swipe left from the watch face, touch and hold a tile, scroll to the end, tap +, and choose catetin.ai.
  • The Spending complication shows the spending and the share of income on your watch face. Touch and hold the face, tap Edit (or Customize), choose a complication slot, and pick catetin.ai.

One group and period for the whole watch

The watch app, the complications, the Smart Stack widget and the Tile share one selection. They start on the phone's group and period. When you change the group or period on the watch, for example on a page, with the period button, or with the buttons on the Tile or rectangular widget, all of them follow. When you pick another group or period in the phone app, the watch follows the phone again.

Sync and privacy

  • The numbers update when the phone app syncs, for example after you or another group member logs a transaction.
  • If the watch shows “Open catetin.ai on your phone to sync”, open the app on your phone once while the watch is connected.
  • If biometric login is turned on, amounts on the watch are hidden as ••••••.
  • When you log out on the phone, the watch signs out too and deletes its data.

Availability

The Apple Watch app is part of the catetin.ai iPhone app, and the Wear OS app is on Google Play. Editing transactions, reports and receipt scanning stay on the phone. For your phone's home screen, see the catetin.ai widget. On iPhone, you can also log expenses with Siri and Shortcuts.
