Why log expenses by voice?

Voice is often the quickest input when your hands are busy or you are on the move: walking out of a shop, getting off a train or unloading groceries. Saying "taxi 18 dollars and lunch 12.50" takes a few seconds, while opening a form and typing takes longer and is easy to postpone.

Logging immediately also means fewer forgotten purchases. Small amounts like a coffee or parking fee are exactly the ones that slip through when you plan to write them down later.

How does voice expense tracking work in catetin.ai?

You record a short voice note describing your transactions in natural language. The AI listens, works out the amounts and categories, and creates the transactions in your current group. You can then check them and fix anything that is not quite right.

Voice notes can be up to 1 minute long. On the Free plan, voice notes are sent through the AI chat.

1. Open catetin.ai and go to the group you want to log into.
2. Record a voice note, for example: "Spent RM25 on groceries and RM8 on a Grab ride."
3. Wait a moment while the AI turns your voice note into transactions.
4. Review the amounts and categories, and edit if needed.

Tips for clearer voice notes

• Say the amount and what it was for in the same phrase, such as "coffee four fifty".
• Mention the day if it was not today, for example "yesterday, dinner 30".
• List several purchases in one note, as long as it stays under 1 minute.
• Record in a quieter spot when you can; background noise can affect accuracy.
• Check the result once, especially for numbers that sound alike, such as fifteen and fifty.

How many voice notes can you use?

The Free plan includes 1 voice note per month via chat, which is enough to try the feature. Premium includes 10 voice notes per month and Pro includes 50.

One-time quota top-ups also add voice notes that never expire: Mini adds 2, Standard adds 5 and Max adds 10. If you run out, you can still type to the AI chat or add transactions manually, which is always unlimited and free.

Voice, chat, receipt or manual: which should you use?

Each input method has its place. Voice is great on the go, chat is handy when you are already at your phone, receipt scans suit itemized shops and bills, and manual entry gives you full control at no cost. Most people end up mixing them, and all of them feed into the same dashboard and reports.
